About Annie Heckel
Annie Heckel is a web accessibility specialist and educator currently working to ensure that Cornell University’s web properties have as few accessibility barriers as possible. Her path to working web accessibility was a convoluted one that began in digital humanities projects, moving through online higher ed, and finally into accessibility consulting work that took her back to higher ed again.
In her daily work, Annie works to ensure that no one runs into accessibility barriers that prevent them from going about their daily tasks–accessibility should always be understood as the starting point, not a special, extra service.
