Developing Accessibility-First WordPress Themes

November 3, 2022 at 00:00 UTC

Many WordPress agencies are including accessibility audits as part of their launch packages, but what if we started with accessibility? WordPress offers a plethora of solutions to make the back-end code of themes more accessible at their core, but too few developers tap into them.

This both costs companies extra money fixing the problems, and causes headaches for all the staff involved in production. In this talk, Nikole and Annie will show you a few common places that WordPress theme developers can trip up when using out-of-the-box solutions, and how to avoid them.

This talk is for developers who want to learn about these options, client managers who want to give these options to their clients, Content Managers who want more a11y control, and anyone who is involved with WordPress at any stage along the way.
