Do you care about inclusivity and making websites everyone can use, especially disabled people?
Great! Those are the only qualifications you need to volunteer at WP Accessibility Day 2022!
The power of the Web is in its universality. Access by everyone, regardless of disability, is an essential aspect.
Tim Berners-Lee, Inventor of the World Wide Web
WordPress Accessibility Day is a nonprofit event organized and run entirely by volunteers who share a common goal: never to stop advocating for and creating an accessible internet. And we need you to join us!
Available Volunteer Positions
WP Accessibility Day 2022 will run 24 hours from November 2nd to November 3rd. Starting at 10:00 AM central in the USA. We need help before, during, and after the event.
There are a bunch of different ways to join in, and you don’t need any experience volunteering for or organizing an event. There are jobs available for people of all skill levels and abilities and people with technical and non-technical backgrounds.
Hosts
You’ll introduce speakers, communicate with the speaker to ask questions passed by the moderator and communicate other event business (announcements, etc.). Exciting note: You will appear on camera for introductions and questions!
Moderators
You’ll be enforcing our code of conduct in the chat and passing questions to the host — it is you who will ensure our sessions run as smooth as silk.
Monitors
As a backup to a moderator, you’ll communicate with the captioner and any other support services; we’ll rely on you to answer questions concerning technical access issues from viewers. We imagine you’re calm in the midst of chaos (but our event will not be chaos, only fun!)
Experienced volunteer wrangler
We need one more experienced volunteer manager to join our organizing team to help assign, manage, and support volunteers in their duties.
You might have experience wrangling volunteers for a WordCamp or virtual event; if so, we need you!
Pre-event Marketing
Hey, creatives! You might find yourself assisting with creating promotional graphics for sponsors, speakers, or sessions or scheduling social media posts on our Buffer account. There are blogs to craft to promote the event and gather attention. Multiple people can help with marketing. You’re the creative voice of our event!
Post-event Video Editing
Our journey to an accessible internet continues long after the camera is off, and helping to edit recordings into files ready for captioning is a crucial post-event task. We need FIVE people in the virtual “cutting room.” Bring your expertise and help to share WP Accessibility Day with the world wide web! (Tim Berners–Lee will be so proud!)

Ready to volunteer?
Volunteer positions begin in October or sooner. Please note that filling out our form does not guarantee a volunteer position; we will choose volunteers carefully and contact you as soon as possible. Remember, no organizing or volunteer experience is necessary — if your heart believes in an accessible internet, that’s what matters! ❤️?
